Here at ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Training Kent our professional lead dog trainer Julie Emery MCPDCS has over twenty years experience working with Early Years, teenagers and adult; fifteen of those years as a SENCO, supporting people with special needs on the ASD spectrum and or ADHD.
Our ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Residential Training in Kent is ideal to assist a person on the spectrum to help gain independence skills and the ability to engage in daily activities. Unlike other autism support dog training companies we do not insist you purchase a dog from us however we put in place a residential ADHD / autism support dog training in Kent behavioural package where our autism dog trainer specialist Julie develops and enhances the skills of your current pet dog to support the person requiring assistance.
Of course some dogs will not be suitable, your pet dog may have limitations as to what can be achieved however Julie has a very healthy success rate using her own experiences supporting individuals suffering autism and ADHD. Autism / ADHD Assistance Dog Training Kent offers a free face to face assessment with Julie prior to booking one of our ADHD Autism Assistance Dog Training Kent packages, this assessment is also available via FaceTime should this be more convenient to you.
Over the years, ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Kent have trained a multitude of breeds but have found poodles mixes (Doodles) to be best suited for our ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Residential Kent training packages due to their intelligence, loyalty, lack of shedding and hypoallergenic tendencies.
Other ideal candidates for our autism / therapy dog residential training packages include Golden Retrievers, St Bernards, German Shepherds, Labradoodles, Collies, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Poodles and of course Goldendoodles of which we breed ourselves being a FIVE* council licensed dog breeder www.MyPoshPup.co.uk
Nigel and Annie are very proud to have been awarded a FIVE* Council Dog Breeding License being the highest rating achievable for a professional dog breeder in the UK.
At My Posh Pup we specialise in breeding fully health and temperament tested goldendoodle puppies which make the ideal autism assistance dog / therapy dog due to their loving nature.
Autism Assistance Dog Kent dogs have been proven to improve social skills and social interaction for many children affected by autism. These dogs are naturally interesting which often draws the attention of the autistic child as well as others. Autism support dog training Kent also breed dogs to carry out the autism support role being a FIVE* council licensed dog breeder.
An Autism Support Dog Kent residential training package can provide independence by allowing the child to walk with the dog as opposed to constantly holding the hand of a parent or adult. A highly skilled autism assistance dog training Kent dog can assist a child while under the direction of the adult. Many children may eventually be capable of handling the dog as well.
Children with autism are often noticed to have an increase in vocabulary after being paired with an autism service dog. The children seem to be more comfortable in speaking with the dog which transfers to more verbal interaction with people. Confidence building is the key here and an autism assistance dog Kent can be the perfect breakthrough.
Autism Support Dog Kent provide a certain level of comfort that can often improve a child’s ability to sleep more throughout the night. Additionally, having their autism service dog Kent in the room at night can help children sleep in their own room rather than with their parents thus allowing other family members to get a good nights sleep knowing other loved ones are in safe paws!
Hello, my name is Julie Emery MCPDCS and I am the lead dog behaviourist at ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Kent.
I am DBS checked and fully insured to train autism support dogs and to accredit teams (owner, child and dog) in Public Access Training allowing you to take you dog into public places otherwise out of bounds to general dog owners.
My home is located in Maidstone and by living close to the M20 / M25 therefore I am easily accessible to support clients in general dog obedience / behavioural modification and of course my speciality being a professional autism support dog trainer supporting families across the UK.
For over twenty years I have closely supported children and their families and devised IEP's for those children for them to reach their full potential. I then facilitated ( in partnership with outside help) their transition to access education in Reception. Within this time, I witnessed and supported children if they had emotional outbursts due to their neurodivergence, closely monitoring them and liaising with parents and relevant agencies.
I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of dogs and owners with autism. It has been a rewarding experience for me to see the progress these dogs have made under our bespoke ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Training in Kent. Having developed a variety of skills when it comes to dog training and behavioural modification, I am patient and understanding with each client and dog I work with and sensitive to their needs and how they respond to different training methods.
At ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Training in Kent I possess extensive knowledge on the best ways to communicate with dogs and how to get the best results out of them. I also understand how to work with the owners of the dogs and how to implement the training successfully. ADHD Autism Service Dog Kent are committed to making sure that each dog I work with feels comfortable and has a positive experience with their training and are learning in a safe and enjoyable environment being confident in my ability to help any dog and owner with autism reach their full potential.
When we have neurodivergence in our families it can really take a toll on the whole family's well being. It is tough both physically and mentally. For some, a huge support would be an autism assistance dog trained by myself . Our dogs, when they are part of our family, give us unconditional love, joy and if needed, comfort.
For a neurodivergent child or adult the world can be a frightening place, our studies have shown that a Kent Trained Autism Support Dog will support you and your family in and outside of the home promoting your child with confidence, reassurance and a strong sense of purpose which will allow you to take your dog into public places including shops, restaurants, medical care facilities and even school!
Our dogs don't judge or have negative opinions, by having a supporting best friend can be truly life changing as navigating the world can be very difficult for children or adults on the spectrum. Not only can a dog make life less challenging for the child or adult it can also have a huge, positive impact on the whole family.
Whilst your dog is under my care he /she would live inside my family alongside my very loving pet dogs and our residential dog training package can also cover the needs of adults and children with autism, ADHD and anxiety based disorders.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Julie Emery MCPDCS "Lead ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Behaviourist at ADHD / Autism Support Dog Trainer Kent"
During your pets ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Training Kent residential training stay I will work on developing your dog's confidence in aiding the autistic child or adult to focus in unfamiliar environments. Your dog will be trained in providing a calming presence, learning how to interrupt certain behaviours, provide a distraction when an unwanted behaviour is displayed, and in the case of children especially, keeping them safe by preventing bolting and any other potentially unsafe activity.
Here at ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Trainer Kent I can teach methods to proof behaviours, this ensures our dogs are able to cope with the many different environments and public places they may be asked to visit as autism assistance dogs. Through my own experiences I understand the way to motivate dogs required for the autism support dog role allowing them to learn the difficult tasks required for the role. All of our ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Training Kent is done in a way that ensures your dog remains motivated for their work whilst creating a strong bond between your child and beloved pet dog.
It can be very difficult to manage meltdowns and sensory needs when you are a person with autism. Fortunately, an ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog in Kent can be trained to help in this area. I can help your dog learn to provide calming, comforting and redirecting commands such as placing their paw on the child's leg, providing sensory input or snuggling or laying their head in the child's lap.
Having an ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Kent as a best friend is an amazing opportunity for autistic people and individuals with ADHD. Not only do they have an unconditional friend who loves them, but they also benefit from better sleep, comfort, and social connections. I can train autism assistance dogs to lie with their owner, so they are able to snuggle and find comfort when they wake up at night and to provide support to manage more easily in social settings.
Additionally, having an ADHD / Assistance Dog Training Kent pet dog can be a great source of comfort and consistency for adults and children with autism during transitions when anxiety may be high, allowing families to go more places with the support of their service dog.
Anchoring is another important service that I can teach assistance dogs to provide to clients with autism. Anchoring is way to keep the person with autism safe in public spaces. Your dog will be trained to wear a harness and a second leash is attached to the child's belt or backpack. This creates a physical boundary that allows the person requiring support to walk but prevents them from leaving. The handler must be holding on to the primary leash to provide direction and supervision.
The above ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Training Kent services are invaluable for people with autism and ADHD. I can also train assistance dogs to give calming effects of deep pressure through a head or full-body rest, and carers are taught how a dog can be part of a strategy to interrupt repetitive behaviours. All results are dependent on the skills the dog can already do successfully and in which environments.
All dogs are different by breed, individual characteristics, age and of course dog training skills already achieved having been taught by family members. With this in mind at ADHD / Autism Assistance Dog Trainer Kent we offer one, two and three weeks bespoke autism assistance dog residential packages which offer the appropriate time to allow myself to teach your dog the skills required to become a successful autism support dog whilst managing your budget at the same time.
